Sport for Environmental Protection

Background

Climate change and environmental degradation are among the greatest challenges of our time. Sport has a unique power to influence society and inspire sustainable behaviour, but its potential remains underutilised. The SEP project is designed to connect sports with environmental awareness, creating new opportunities to engage communities, athletes, and organisations in the fight against climate change .

Objectives

  • Promote Environmental Awareness: Use sport as a driver to raise knowledge and inspire action on sustainability and climate issues.

  • Empower Athletes as Green Ambassadors: Equip athletes with tools to advocate for eco-friendly practices in their communities.

  • Develop Educational Resources: Provide training materials, workshops, and toolkits to help sports clubs adopt sustainable practices.

  • Foster International Cooperation: Encourage exchange of good practices and experiences between sports organisations across Europe .

Project Results

  • Educational modules and toolkits integrating sustainability into sports activities.

  • At least 10 pilot actions implemented by partner organisations to demonstrate green practices in sport.

  • A European network of sports clubs and stakeholders committed to environmental protection.

  • Policy recommendations to guide future sustainable development in the sports sector .
