Norway-Slovenia Cooperation on Young People’s Careers

Led by the Posavje Regional Development Agency, our EEA Grants project, which aims to support the careers of rural youth, has been launched. The Career Centre Posavje, planned to be developed within the project, will be an innovative support environment for youth in the rural region of Posavje in Slovenia. It is designed to improve the labour market, the competencies of youth, and connections between youth and the local business environment. The goal of the Career Centre Posavje is to increase employment opportunities, facilitate the transition from school to work in the region, and reduce work migrations to other regions.

Market Research Activities

To achieve these goals, the Career Centre Posavje team will conduct market research activities to identify the needs and preferences of youth and employers in the region. This research will help us to better understand the labour market and the skills and competencies most in demand in the region.

Exchange of Good Practices in Norway

We will also have the opportunity to share good practices in Norway, which has provided valuable insights and ideas for effectively supporting youth in the transition from education to work.

Andragogical Educational Programme for Consultants (Youth Workers)

To ensure that we are well-equipped to support youth in their career development, Slovenian partners are planning to implement an andragogical educational programme for our consultants (youth workers). This programme will focus on providing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for effectively guiding and advising youth in their career journey.

Broad Content for Youth

In addition, we will develop a range of resources and materials to support youth in their career development. This includes information on different career options, job search strategies, and skills development. These resources will be available to youth via our web platform, which brings all of this information together in one place.

Implementation of a Web Platform

Speaking of our web platform, we are excited to announce that it will be launched next year! The platform will serve as a hub for all of the resources and information that we have developed for youth, as well as a way for youth to connect with employers and educational organisations in the region.

The Career Centre Posavje will be a vibrant and innovative support environment for youth in the rural region of Posavje. By improving labour market information, competencies of youth, and connections between youth and the local business environment, we hope to increase employment opportunities, facilitate the transition from school to work, and reduce work migrations in the region. We are excited to continue this important work and support the next generation of Slovenia’s workforce.
