Project Lab: FITFootball Takes Innovative Steps Forward

The FIT Football Project, funded by the European Union and aimed at delivering innovative solutions in football training at the grassroots level, has successfully completed its second transnational meeting in Murcia, Spain, hosted by UCAM. This project seeks to enhance the skills and profiles of grassroots football coaches by transferring advanced methods and knowledge from professional football to lower levels. It also focuses on fitness coaching, aiming to improve coaches' employment prospects and competitiveness in the market.

Partners from various institutions, including UCAM, FURIM, NYSA, ICCE, and SAGENE IF, gathered to discuss the project's progress and future strategies. The meeting highlighted efforts to strictly adhere to academic standards and implement innovative training practices.

One of the main topics on the agenda was the presentation of a draft course program prepared by FURIM, which included feedback from football professionals. This feedback underscored the importance of integrating age-specific training needs and scientific findings with practical training modules.

The project also focuses on developing innovative training materials and flexible learning methods designed to improve coaching skills, thereby increasing coaches' adaptability and competitiveness in the job market. In this regard, the development of a gamified web platform and mobile application was also discussed.

The next stages of the FIT Football Project promise to boost coaches' motivation and foster a passion for sport among young athletes through scientifically-backed, inclusive programs. The upcoming project meeting is scheduled for May 2025 and will be hosted by ICCE in Leeds.
